Are deer more likely to poop in open meadows or woody areas? Can you find some articles about this topic?

I love you! best answer will be givenAre deer more likely to poop in open meadows or woody areas? Can you find some articles about this topic?
There's quite a few studies that investigate ungulate populations (which includes deer) that show that they are more prevalent near areas of higher density vegetation.

Ergo, most feeding sites and defecation sites are going to be in dense vegetation.

It stands to reason though, that a deer would defecate in an area that provided it with cover and an escape route should a predator be seen. Most deer will defecate near to their bedding area or feeding area - both of which are in dense vegatation.

I find deer poop everywhere that deer walk. They aren't like us and wait for the right moment, they poop on the go so to speak. I find poop on their trails, a lot which is usually through the woods and I also find it in open fields where they have been grazing and lying down. You can also tell the sex of the deer by looking at the poop.
They prefer the privacy of the woods. Wouldn't you?
