John deer 314 i turn the deck on and it quits like shuting off the key shut off the deck it runs y it quit?

My mower (different brand) has 4 safety switches...one at the deck, one at the trans.clutch, one at the magneto, and one under the seat.

First, I would see if there isn't something wedged in your blades, check the belts too--make sure they aren't too tight, or bad. If that all looks good...It sounds like your deck saftey switch is bad...follow the wires off your ignition to find them all...disconnect one by one to find the right one-possibly change it out (mine pushes in directly under the ignition on the floor of the body above the deck housing). When you disconnect these switches, if they are working right, you won't be able to crank at all...so you'll know if they are good.

If it still doing this....go to askmehelpdesk.com and the professionals there can give you more ideas.John deer 314 i turn the deck on and it quits like shuting off the key shut off the deck it runs y it quit?
You have an open safety circuit somewhere. I don't know JD well or your model but all lawn tractors are required to have a seat safety so that if you fall off the blades quit and they usually do that by killing the engine.

Did you remember you have to be on the seat to engage the blade? haha. I have forgotten while testing. On mine the wiring plug on the seat safety gets pulled loose on occasion because it is rather exposed. Or the switch could be loose and not engaging properly either under the seat or on the clutch arm (manual clutch).

If it is an electric clutch for the blades that circuit usually has a fuse.

You just need to trace that circuit and find the open.

Sounds like a problem with one of the safety switches. If it is a manual engaging deck I would suspect the switch on the lever. If it is electric, you have to be in the seat so I would suspect the driver presence switch under the seat.
