Could i have a deer as a pet?

do they make good pets? i guess i should get a female. do they need special care?Could i have a deer as a pet?
i agree you should leave wild animals to be wild, where they belong, they arent something you should bring home and raise! they will bring destruction and havoc throughout your home, trust me, it doesnt work out.





if you just HAVEEE to i would get a female and yes WILD ANIMALS need special care, and a female will need even more of it.

I don't think it would be a good idea to have one as a pet. They are naturally wild and need to be among their own kind - and NO i am not suggesting you get more than one. It would be very difficult to look after a deer properly and also very expensive. The deer would NOT be happy. If you think you want one now i can guarantee that if you got one in a few months (maybe more) you would be tired of it. If you don't want to stick with the traditional house pets, try something like ferrets or a chinchilla, but trust me a deer is not a good idea.
I'm not sure if they would make the most amazing pets; however, I know of a few people who keep deer as livestock--they butcher for the meat.





You would most likely have to have acreage, and check to see if you need a permit. You'd probably also have to purchase a deer--capturing a random one isn't quite the same thing.
funny, my best friend actualy keeps a deer, his family just found it in theyr back yard one morning, and it refused to leave, he seems happy in the surounding, and doesnt require any cage, they made him a place to sleep, and he just roams the yard most of the time, weird as it is, i told my friend they need to vacinate him imediatly, they hired a vet to do it, and the deer seems to be doing just fine :) so my answer would be... under the right circumstances? lol





edit: oh and its a female. BTW, very important, u should find out if ur country/state laws alows keeping wild animals as pets, becouse some animals might be endangered or against the law to keep, and u can find urself in a lot of trouble with the law :)
I would have to agree with Tina on this one...even if you get them as a baby... they will still have that instinct to run away...yess they are very cute and even if you were going to keep them outside...it wouldnt be right! and honestly iv'e never heard of a deer breeder!! lol please don't...sorry :(
Don't get a deer, they are wild animals and they do bite.


They don't make good pets, so just let them be. :]
